The Call Crew: Summer Vaca Catch Up: Part One

This year our summer together was mostly just July. I worked up until the last days in June and then on July 31st Phil started medical school. We had a lot of fun and projects to jam pack into the month of July.
We kicked it off with the girls (me, my sister Kacie, and my mom...and Bennett :) ) going to Utah/Idaho and the boys (Phil, my dad, and my Grandpa Bowler) going to Utah fishing. I will start with the girls trip.

I wanted to show Kacie around BYU-Idaho before she started school in the fall and we have family in Utah so it was a no brainer that we should make a girls trip out of it. It was a little tough to accomplish, being 7+ months pregnant and traveling with an extremely active 1 year old but my family was super helpful! Kacie and I flew to Utah a few days before my mom. I was worried about Bennett on the plane but he did really good. Loaded him up with lots of juice and popped in Kung Fu Panda and we did pretty well! Phew!

Being in Utah in July was wonderful! Bennett was actually able to play outside! My aunt and uncle have a beautiful, big, grass backyard and Bennett was just in heaven. Running around, jumping on the trampoline, playing with cars....if only it were that nice outside in AZ in July.

Later that week my mom joined us and we made the trip to good ole' Rexburg, Idaho!

We made a stop in Idaho Falls, Idaho to see the temple and the falls and such. Bennett could not stop ooo-ing and aww-ing over the water and the ducks. And of course, once again it was beautiful outside so we could have spent loads of time wandering the temple grounds and watching the ducks.

When we got to Rexburg we were able to show Kacie around the town, take a tour of her nice apartment, show her where her classes were, and lots more. It was a very productive day! I couldn't help but be down memory lane the whole time. I had a lot of good times there and met a lot of really good people that I will never forget and I am beyond excited for her to be going up there so she can experience all of that too. It was a really good time. With all of that said, a Rexburg visit is not complete unless you visit Craigos...well now its called Pizza Pie Cafe, but still the same great food, and the same AMAZING Oreo pizza. If there was only a way for Kacie to ship me one of those great, GREAT Oreo pizzas. Mmmmm! OK, OK I gotta move on.

The next day Kacie and I had to be back in Salt Lake to catch our flight back to AZ. Sad that our trip was over but we had a great girls trip! We had some time in Salt Lake before our plane left so we walked around Temple Square and the mall they have near there. We later caught out flight and ended a long, fun girls trip. Thanks girls for making it so fun!!!

While the girls were on their trip, the boys took a fishing trip of their own. They left the same day as the girls, but drove north to start their fishing journey. They stopped at a few spots along the way to their fishing destination, and got some good nature time.

The boys successfully made it to their destination in southern Utah late one night. Unfortunately the altitude made my grandpa sick and they left early early the next morning to start their trip back to AZ to take him back home. At least they were able to make a stop or two on the way back to catch some more UT/AZ nature.

Once grandpa was home safe and sound, and feeling much better, Phil and my dad started back up the drive to southern Utah. They were eager to get some fishing time in. Which they did for the next few days!
